THE KOALA: AN ENDANGERED ANIMAL

The koala is one of the principal endangered animals in all the world. Nowadays there are only less than 5.000 of koalas left in the wild. The population of the koala has dropped by 80% in a decade. However the people are trying to save this wonderful animal.

Why is the koala endangered? The koala only lives in the eastern area of Australia. Their habitat is being destroyed. Besides having no living place, it has lost its source of food. The koala only eats eucalyptus leaves, and not from all the types of eucalyptus, and it has a limited supply of food choice. An other reason is that the koalas have got a very soft fur that is very valued.

What can we do to save the koalas? Australian foundations called “Save the koala” an other Organisations are working with the Australian government to save this animal. They are trying to protect the eucalyptus forests of this region and they have banned their hunting.

To sum up, the Australian government and this foundations will have to work a lot if they want to save the koala that is one of the most wonderful animals in the whole world.
